Dr. Gloria L. HobbsDr. Gloria L. Hobbs is a celebrated linguist, scholar, and administrator who has written numerous articles on topics ranging from French literature to the African diaspora.

Gloria first became acquainted with Ithaca College after receiving an invitation to join the IC Board of Trustees from Ellis Phillips Jr., who became IC’s fifth president in 1970. She graciously accepted, serving on the board from 1972 to 1987.

The award annually supports the professional development of a chosen faculty member to enhance their capacity for equitable and inclusive leadership. Gloria has also established a legacy gift with the college that will provide scholarship support.

“Ithaca College grows on you—what it does for students and the opportunity to be in such a beautiful area. I love being associated with such a fine institution.”
